Born in New Orleans in 1975, Adonis Rose was given his first drum kit as a child, and has been playing ever since. His father, also a drummer, was his first teacher. While attending Easton High School, he also attended the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts where he honed his drumming skills with famed New Orleans musicians like Clyde Kerr and the renowned Nicholas Payton. Rose spent his high school years gigging in New Orleans nightclubs and after graduation he spent the summer touring with Terrance Blanchard.

The next step for Adonis was to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston on a four-year scholarship. However, being such a sought after drummer, he left Berklee after two years to continue performing and touring with musicians such as Marcus Roberts, Nicholas Payton, Betty Carter and Marlon Jordan. In 1995 he became a member of the prestigious Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.

Adonis released his first CD, "Song for Donise" in 1998. You can also hear him on CDs by Nicholas Payton (Gumbo Nouveau, 1996; Payton's Place, 1998; Nick @ Nite, 2000;) Mark Zubeck (Four Eyes, 1993;) Anthony Wonsey (Exodus, 1998;) Donald Harrison (New Orleans Collective, 1998;) and Larry McClellan (Moving Up, 1998.) In 1998 Adonis was voted Contemporary Jazz All Star by New Orleans Magazine. He has performed on Good Morning America with Wynton Marsalis and recorded a music video with Marsalis entitled Wynton Marsalis on Music as well as music for a PBS Documentary on the life of Malcolm X.

Currently, Adonis is on tour with his quintet. He is accompanied by Tim Warfield on tenor and soprano saxophones, Aaron Goldberg on piano, Jason Stewart on upright bass and Maurice Brown on trumpet. Adonis is also performing and practicing, immersing himself in the city's activities. His most recent mission has been to heighten musical awareness and appreciation in the Greater New Orleans Community by exposing the area to nationally renowned recording artists. Recently Adonis, Irvin Mayfield, Peter Martin and Jason Stewart backed Aaron Neville for his first performance in nearly 20 years. Rose also invited Mulgrew Miller to New Orleans for an All Star performance along with Terrance Blanchard, Tim Warfield, and Jason Stewart. In the past he has performed with the following artists:
